Coming Off of Three Games in Five Days, Falcons Prepare For Keiser and Conference Rival ASA College This Week

Wednesday: 9/20/17

The Daytona State Falcons defeated the Eastern Florida State Titans in their Region 8 matchup on Wednesday night, 2-1. The Falcons got on the board in the 35th minute of the 1st half when Joe O'Sullivan beat the keeper to the ball and cut it back to Creggton Charlton who then netted it past the EFSC keeper.

The Falcons kept the lead until the Titans tied up the match in the 60th minute. With time running out, Creggton Charlton received a pass from Marko Tomic that allowed him to go on a 1v1 battle with the keeper, which then led to another Charlton goal on the night and leading DSC to a victory.

"Our guys played their hearts out tonight," says head coach Bart Sasnett. "I am very pleased with their performance on the field and the way they composed themselves."

Saturday: 9/23/17

The Daytona State Falcons traveled to Milledgeville, GA to face opponent Georgia Military College for the second time this season. After defeating the Bulldogs 2-0 earlier in the season, the Falcons fell to a 2-1 defeat. This was Daytona States first loss to an opponent outside of Region 8 besides at the National Tournament. Miguel DeLeon put the Falcons ahead 1-0 right before halftime but it was not enough to stop the Bulldogs from tying the game up late in the second half. The Bulldogs went ahead 2-1 after they received a penalty kick in the 88th minute of the game.

"We didn't play our best soccer this day," says Sasnett. "Our guys came out flat and we paid for that."

Sunday: 9/24/17

After a 2-1 loss to Georgia Military, the Falcons traveled to Sumter, SC to face new opponent USC Sumter. The Falcons dominated the match and came away with a 3-0 victory. The USC Sumter Fire Ants played a very defensive strategy, but the Falcons were still able to get away with the win. Goals were scored by Joe O'Sullivan, Creggton Charlton and Ryan Sandidge.

"They put every player behind the ball and made it extremely difficult to get a clear shot on goal," said Sasnett. "It was good to play a new opponent and get the win after the loss to Georgia Military."

The Falcons will prepare to face Keiser University on Thursday the 28th at home. The Falcons defeated the SeaHawks earlier this season, but they do not plan to take this game easy. The SeaHawks are a well-coached team and are very organized, who last year took Daytona State into overtime in their second matchup with the Falcons coming out with the win.

After the match on Thursday, the Falcons will have a quick turnaround and prepare to face Region 8 opponent ASA College on Sunday the 1st in Hialeah, FL.

"ASA is a tough opponent for us and always seem to give us trouble," says Sasnett. "They are a possession oriented team, just like we are, so it will be a good matchup to see who controls the game."

The Falcons are 1-0 in Region 8 play while the Silver Storm have the opposite record of 0-1 in Region 8 play.
