Men’s Soccer Team Begins Season as No. 5 in NJCAA & NSCAA

The Daytona State College Men's soccer team will begin the season as the No. 5 team in the country.

The Falcons are No. 5 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America preseason poll and are coming off a 17-3-1 season as well as defending FSCAA Champions and Southeast District Champions.

After a successful first-year season with all home games played at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the Falcons will now have a home of their own. The Men's team will host all home matches at their new stadium; complete with over 800 seat occupancy, concessions, and live feed on the Jumbotron.

The Falcons return 5 starting players from last year, all of which will have a huge impact for this coming season. Coach Sasnett looks to his returners for leadership; Rory O'Keeffe, Dylan Burke, Donovan Segree, and Orlando locals Ryan Sandidge and Joe O'Sullivan.

"All of our sophomores know the intensity of our conference and are no strangers to the pressure situations that we will be put into," says Sasnett.

The Falcons also landed starting goalkeeper Phil D'Amico, another native of Orlando, who is a transfer from the University of West Florida that started every game for the Argonauts last year.

"Phil is the type of goalkeeper you want between the posts. He has the experience and all the attributes of a complete keeper."

The Falcons open up regular season play on September 2nd against Georgia Military College. Game will be at the new Falcon stadium at 1:00 PM.
