Falcons Move to 11th in National Rankings

The Flacons faced ASA Miami College on Saturday the 15th for the third time in Region 8 play; defeating them all three times. The Falcons got on the board early with a 25-yard rocket shot from freshman Dylan Burke. The Falcons held onto their lead for the majority of the half until ASA was awarded a penalty kick in the last 10 seconds of the 1st half.

ASA came out in the second half putting in an early goal but the Falcons answered right back with a goal from freshman Joe O'Sullivan; making it his 9th of the season. With time running out in the game, head coach Bart Sasnett put in freshman forward Ryan Goldsmith with hopes of winning the game. "It's a Region 8 match and we need to win all of these games," says Sasnett. "We will always go for the win in these games." Shortly after being put into the game, Joe O'Sullivan played a ball down the line to Ryan Goldsmith who then beat the keeper and netted the final game winning goal.

The Falcons faced Thomas University's JV team (NAIA) last night at Embry-Riddle soccer complex and came out with a 4-3 victory after a long fought match. The Falcons dominated the match with possession and outshot the Nighthawks 30-6, but couldn't seem to find the back of the net as much as they should have.

Freshman Mohamed Hussein got on the board first with his 8th goal of the season. Shortly after, Sophomore and captain Brandon Berg scored his 1st goal of the season off of a cross from a corner kick. The Nighthawks came right back and put two quick goals in, tying up the match. Nearing the end of the 1st half, sophomore Quam Salami netted a goal sending the Falcons into halftime with a 3-2 lead.

The majority of the 2nd half went scoreless, with Daytona State out possessing Thomas University. With 9 minutes left to go in the game, the Nighthawks tied up the match. Head Coach Bart Sasnett made a few changes in the lineup by putting in freshman Marko Tomic. With 4 minutes left in regulation time, Dylan Burke took a corner kick and found the head of Rory O'Keefe who put the ball across the face of the goal where Marko Tomic was waiting to put it in. The Falcons held onto their 4-3 lead and with this victory they moved their record to 13-1, continuing their 10 game winning streak.

The Falcons will host Region 8 opponent Eastern Florida State College Titans on Friday the 21st at 4:00 PM at ERAU.
