Falcons Blank #12 Titans 3-0

Tuesday afternoon was a big day for the No. 20 nationally-ranked Daytona State College Falcons when they defeated the No. 12 nationally-ranked Eastern Florida State College Titans 3-0.

"We came to play today," says head coach Bart Sasnett. "Across the board we won our individual battles and did what we had to do."

The Falcons got on the board in the 21st minute when freshman Rory O'Keefe netted a header off of a corner kick from freshman Dylan Burke.

The Falcons held their 1-0 lead through the rest of the half and came out in the 2nd half with a ton of energy. In the 55th minute of the match, sophomore Quam Salami broke through the Titans defense and played a ball to find freshman Mohamed Hussein's head which he then placed in the back of the net making the score 2-0.

The Falcons weren't done yet. Shortly after the second goal, sophomore Tyler Hall rocketed a shot into the back of the net with an assist from freshman Mohamed Hussein making the score 3-0.

"Today was huge for us as a new program. Putting in 3 goals and having a shutout against a #12 nationally-ranked team is a big step for Daytona State College," says Sasnett.

The Falcons will face Keiser University on Thursday at 4:00 at Embry-Riddle.
