Brock Morris was named Daytona State College Head Men’s Basketball Coach on May 2^nd 2018. Morris comes to Daytona State with a wealth of experience. The eleven year veteran has spent eight seasons at the NCAA Division One level with stops at the University of South Alabama, University of Louisiana, and the University of Alabama. Coach Morris also has very successful experience at the NJCAA level at the College of Southern Idaho. 

During Coach Morris inaugural season the Falcons have accumulated a 25-6 overall record, which ties the program's record for wins in the last ten seasons. The DSC Men's Basketball team has been ranked in the NJCAA Top 25 poll for sixteen weeks, captured the Mid Florida Conference Tournament Championship, and set school records in Team GPA and Attendance, 5th nationally. Morris inherited a team with only two scholarship players when hired on May 2nd, 2018. Over the course of four months he and his staff signed twelve student athletes. The 2018 recruiting class produced four NJCAA Top 100 Players, Mid Florida Conference player of the year (Khadim Sy), Mid Florida Conference Player of the Year Runner Up (Bryce Williams), Mid Florida Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year (Dou Gueye), and six All-Mid Florida Conference players (Khadim Sy, Bryce Williams, Dou Gueye, Harwin Francois, Durey Cadwell, and Zubair Seyed).

The DSC Men's Basketball program set academic records as well. Team GPA for the Fall Semester, 3.32 and Team GPA for the Summer Semester, 3.55 were the best in school history for Men's Basketball. The Morris lead falcons were also very active in the community, serving the Boys and Girls Club, 2nd Harvest Food Bank, South Daytona Elementary, and hosting basketball camps for underprivileged kids.

Offensively the Falcons face paced attack lead to one of the most dynamic and exciting offensive teams in the Mid Florida Conference and Region 8. They lead the Mid Florida Conference in scoring during the regular season, (87) points per game. Daytona State also lead Region 8 and the Mid Florida Conference in Three Point Field Goals made (317), and assist per game (20.7). Khadim Sy lead Region 8 and the Mid Florida Conference in individual rebounding, while Harwin Francois and Bryce Williams were first and second respectively in three-point field goal percentage shooting in both Region 8 and the Mid Florida Conference.

Defensively the Falcons were also among the best in the Mid Florida Conference and Region 8. They finished the regular season 1st in the Mid Florida Conference in Field Goal Percentage Defense, 1st in defense rebounds allowed, 1st defensive rebounding margin, 1st in assist allowed, 1st in turnovers forced on the season, 1st in block shots per game, and 2nd in points per game allowed.

Morris joined the South Alabama men’s basketball staff in August 2015, where he helped the Jaguars become one of the top defenses in the country from 2015 to 2018 as the defensive coordinator on Matthew Graves staff. 

In the 2017-18 season the Jags ranked sixth in the nation in 3-point defense (.305) and 24th in field-goal defense (.407); both percentages were the third lowest in school history. Synergy Sports placed South Alabama at the top of the Sun Belt Conference and 16th in Division I in its defensive rankings.

The Jaguars tied their most home wins in a decade during the 2017-18 season, and held 15 teams below 70 points while posting a 13-2 record in those games.

Morris’ recruiting connections helped the Jaguars land seven of the 10 players signed from 2015-2017. The program’s 2017 class was rated No. 1 in the Sun Belt Conference (85th in the country) by 247Sports, the highest national ranking in program history.  In 2016 247Sports rated the recruiting class No. 2 in the Sun Belt Conference (97th nationally).

In 2016-17, South Alabama tied its best start in school history (5-0) thanks to a season-opening win at UNLV. The team led the conference in turnovers forced (16.3 pg), turnover margin (+3.2), and steals (7.5 spg), and ranked 15th, 20th and 44th in Division I, respectively.

Morris came to South Alabama after two seasons at the College of Southern Idaho, where as an assistant he helped the Golden Eagles to a combined 58-8 overall record—27-5 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play—with two league titles and an appearance in the NJCAA Tournament. The Golden Eagles spent 19 straight weeks ranked in the Top 5 of the NJCAA national poll.

At CSI, Morris served as recruiting and academic coordinator, and was responsible for scouting, game planning, and player development.

In 2014-15, Southern Idaho claimed the Scenic West Athletic Conference title with a 13-2 record and a 31-3 mark overall, as well as the Region 18 Tournament crown. The Golden Eagles boasted a First Team NJCAA All-American, who was also the SWAC Player of the Year—and five All-SWAC selections.

CSI averaged over 90 points per game offensively while ranking No. 2 nationally in field goal percentage defense and No. 3 in steals, holding opponents to 68 points per contest.

The year prior, the Golden Eagles won the SWAC with a 13-4 ledger in league play—27-5 overall—and once again placed five on the all-conference teams, a first team All-American, and the Conference Player of the Year.

In total eighteen players Morris coached at CSI signed Division One scholarships.

Prior to his time at Southern Idaho, Morris was the director of basketball operations at the University of Louisiana from 2010-13 where he coached the 10^th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, Elfrid Payton, who finished fourth in the NBA Rookie of the Year voting. While at UL, Morris helped the Ragin Cajuns win the 2012 Sun Belt Western Division Title.

Following a playing career at Snead State, Morris earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Alabama in 2008 before joining the basketball staff as a graduate assistant, where he eventually received a master’s degree in human environmental sciences in 2010.

A native of Albertville, Ala., he is married to the former Amanda Archer. They have a son, Macksen (2)
