Next Man Up: Daytona State Runs Away From South Georgia 79-56 to Remain Undefeated
Daytona State faced adversity on their trip to Georgia and persevered. On Saturday, Daytona played without 3 of their top 6 scorers and still prevailed with solid defense and sniper-like 3 point shooting as they finished with 19 made 3 point shots. The win ties the school record set last year with 13 consecutive wins.
 
The Saturday matchup was against South Georgia State College, the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association preseason #1 pick by the coaches and a NJCAA National Tournament participant in 2023. As if that wasn't enough, they did so without 3 of their top 6 scorers: Breylin Garcia, Kylin Greenand Dylan DiazThe 3 were disqualified for Saturday's game after an altercation on Friday caused by an Albany Tech player's flagrant foul against Kylin Green in a foul ridden game that culminated in an Albany Tech player grabbing Green from behind in a chokehold. 
 
South Georgia led at the half 36-35. The Falcons came out in the second half and shut down the South Georgia offense holding them to 20 points while the Falcon offense kicked into high gear scoring 44 second half points.
 
Judd Coan and Isaiah Dorceus combined for 41 points. Dorceus scored the first 12 points of the game making 4 3 pointers and would finish with 23 points (7-10 from 3 pt range). Coan finished with 18 points with 6 made 3 point attempts. Josue Grullon added 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Victor Panov had 7 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Huascar Cuevas 6 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
