Daytona State Defeats Miami Dade 78-68

Miami Dade College men's basketball team, fresh off a huge upset win over #21 Indian River on Wednesday, tried to make it two in a row but came up short against #2 Daytona State College 78-68. Daytona improves to 17-0 and Miami Dade falls to 9-7.

The Falcons came out strong in the first half and built a 16 point lead, 39-23 with just under 3 minutes left in the half and then ran out of gas. Miami-Dade scored the last 7 points of the half to cut the lead to 9 at halftime.

Daytona rebuilt their lead to 14 in the second half but Miami-Dade fought back and cut the deficit to 7 with 1:35 to play in the game, 73-66. Daytona's Huascar Cuevas scored on a 3 point field goal and Victor Panov made two free throws to go up by 12 before Miami-Dade's John Latimer scored on a layup to end the scoring.

Miami-Dade held Daytona to just 27% from 3 point range.

Victor Panov led Daytona with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists. Josue Grullon finished with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Kylin Green had 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Isaiah Dorceus had 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals.
