Falcon Student-Athletes Achieve Significant Academic Success in Spring Semester

Amid the unprecedented challenges presented by COVID-19, Daytona State College student-athletes enjoyed a tremendous spring semester in the classroom, with 8 of the athletic department's 10 programs earning a 3.0 GPA or higher during the term. The 183 Falcon student-athletes compiled an average GPA of 3.41 as the men's baseball team led the way at 3.82.

"Our student-athletes, coaches, academic advisors and faculty all did a tremendous job in responding to the challenges of distance learning and the end result was some remarkable performances in the virtual classroom this Spring. I'm proud of their commitment to excellence in all areas of their experience at Daytona State College," athletic director Will Dunne said.

Daytona State College student-athletes finished the semester strong as a total of 128 Falcons recorded a GPA of 3.0 or greater, and garnered Mid-Florida Conference Honor Roll recognition.

Five teams recorded a semester GPA north of 3.5, with the men's baseball setting the pace for all male programs, checking in with a 3.82 GPA. In addition, the women's cross country, women's golf, women's volleyball, and women's soccer programs finished above a 3.5 with GPAs of 3.79 and 3.75, 3.6, and 3.52 respectively.

For the 2019-20 academic year, 6 of the Falcon programs finished with at least a 3.0 GPA. Men's Baseball recorded the highest overall GPA in 2019-20, finishing with a 3.85. Women's golf achieved the top annual GPA of all female programs at 3.73.

A total of 69 student-athletes will graduate this year, and 106 Falcons garnered Mid-Florida Conference Honor Roll recognition.
