The Falcons opened their NJCAA national title defense on Monday at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona by carding a one over par team round of 289, to take a nineteen stroke lead into day two of the four-day tournament.  The Falcons are in search of their tenth team national title in 2018.  The team weathered the very hot and dry Arizona conditions to push to a comfortable lead over rival Seminole State College (FL) who posted a 308.

The top five team scores after the first round of championship play

  1. Daytona State College – 289 (+1)
  2. Seminole State College (FL) – 308 (+20)
  3. Redlands Community College – 328 (+40)
  4. Western Texas Community College – 329 (+41)
  5. Dodge City Community College – 334 (+46)

The Falcons were led by sophomore Grace St-Germain (71), freshman Hollie Muse (72), sophomore Kendall Johnson (72), and sophomore Jiwon Jeon (74).  The Falcons will tee off on Tuesday to begin second round play at 11:30 am.
